Real Estate Course Series

Collaborating with Lake Superior College, the Center for Research and Innovation is able to bring you Real Estate Certification through a three-course series, Real Estate I, Real Estate II, and Real Estate III.

These three courses will be held at Bemidji State University for your convenience, but you must sign up and register through Lake Superior College by clicking here, or printing out the hard-copy registration form.

Real Estate Pre-Licensure Courses
Fall 2009
DESCRIPTION

The State of Minnesota Commerce Department requires 90-hours of pre-licensure training to become a licensed real estate agent in Minnesota. These are taught in 3-sections, 30-hours each. Attendance is mandatory.

You must successfully pass the Real Estate Licensure exam and complete the following 90-hours of instruction, to apply for a license with the MN Department of Commerce.
Real Estate I prepares students for the Real Estate Test (Usually taken after Course I at an authorized test center. Test is not part of the series.)
All three courses are broadcast from LSC to SIX other locations! Bemidji State University, Hibbing Community College, Itasca Community College, Mesabi Range Technical/Community College, Rainy River Community College, and Vermillion Community College.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS
Chapters 1-3 (178 pages) MUST be read prior to the first night of Real Estate I. Books can be picked up at the Center for Research and Innovation in Bemidji, MN - 3801 Bemidji Ave N, Suite 4.

Real Estate I

Date/Time: September 15-26, 2009 (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 6-9PM & Saturdays 9AM-3:30PM)
Cost: $310, includes book, Principles of Minnesota Real Estate, Rick Larson, (4th Edition, 2008 Rev.)

This intensive course covers the basics of Real Estate principles and practices to prepare to take the State License Exam to become a real estate salesperson.
Course Outcomes: Understanding responsibilities of a salesperson, understanding legal issues, understanding content material sufficient to pass practice exam.
Pre-Work: Read the first three chapters of book, Principles of Minnesota Real Estate, Rick Larson, Fourth Edition, 2008 Revision prior to the first night of class. Pick up the book at the Center for Research and Innovation, 3801 Bemidji Ave N, Suite 4.

Real Estate II

Date/Time: October 6-17, 2009 (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 6-9PM & Saturdays 9AM-3:30PM)
Cost: $269

This second course in the Real Estate series continues to explore the business relationship between the salesperson and client. Practical activities provide applied experiences to gain skills and refine techniques for understanding the various types of agreements and written materials necessary including financial arrangement matters to conduct business between buyer and seller. No pre-reading required.

Real Estate III 

Date/Time: October 20-31, 2009 (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 6-9PM & Saturdays 9AM-3:30PM)
Cost: $269

This third course in the Real Estate Series further explores listing and sales business transactions. Practical activity scenarios provide you with the opportunity to gain skills and refine techniques to accurately complete and present forms. No pre-reading required.
